The Sign Commission and Sign Inspector are responsible for ensuring signage in Williamstown meets the local sign bylaw. If you are interested in applying for a sign please note that the Williamstown Community Development Department has joined the Berkshire County online permitting system for the submittal of applications for residential and commercial building permits, sheet metal permits, mechanical permits, plumbing and gas permits, electrical permits, annual inspection certificates for public buildings, and sign permits.
If your sign request needs to be heard before the Sign Commission please note the Commission meets the 4th Thursday of every month and the deadline for getting permits submitted is the Friday prior to the meeting. If you have any questions regarding signs or sign permits please call the Community Development Office at 458-9344.
The Sign Commission consists of not less than 5 and not more than 5 members appointed by the Board of Selectmen in accordance with Article 23 of the February 25, 1963 Annual Town Meeting.
