Council on Aging Daily Update

Updates, Wednesday August 19th, 2020

There’s a new player in town,a new pharmacy called “The Williamstown Apothecary” and they’re a collaboration between Berkshire Health Systems and Williams College. They’re located at 72 Spring Street where the Library Antiques used to live. It’s  a full service pharmacy with access to prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, vitamins, herbal teas, skin care products, all that pharmacy stuff. They’ll also host an automated system allowing for pick-up of prescriptions after hours but this isn’t ready yet so future details to come. And- guess what? They’ll deliver too! They’re in the middle of a soft opening at the minute, still signing the papers with some of the insurors out there but they’re open for business. The phone number is 413.458.7373.. They were originally going to open at the end of last winter but apparently those plans were covidated too…

The Williamstown Apothecary’s hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The North Adams Mobile Food Pantry sponsored by the FoodBank of Western Mass has returned to its original location, in the parking lot at the Brien Center so…if you’re looking for them at the Legion parking lot, fear not, they’ve just moved next door.

OK, here’s some clip and save information about voting; the deadlines to register to vote and/or change party affiliation are;  to vote in the September 1 primary, you can register online with the MA Secretary of State, but the deadline is August 22, which by the way is this Saturday

If you want to vote by mail, you need to file your Application by the 26th (why do they cut these things so short…) and there will be early voting at Town Hall from the 22nd through the 28th. Check the municipal for the times…

Actual election day activities will be in person at the WES from 7:00AM to 8:00 PM.

Now, if you want to vote in the November 3rd election, you can still register to vote and/or change your party affiliation online with the Secretary of State but you have until October 24th to do so, your mail in vote application needs to be in by October 28th with the ballot obviously due on November 3rd by 8:00 PM.

There will also be early in person voting at Town Hall October 17th to October 30th. Check the municipal website for details and times when we’re closer to the date..

In person voting on November 3rd will again be at the WES from 7:00 AM until 8:00 PM.

By the way, they’re demolishing the old Williams Inn as you’re reading this. If you should be in the neighborhood, take a peek. A piece of Town history is vanishing before our eyes.
