News and Notes, Friday October 8th, 2021
The last Farmer’s Market of the year here in Williamstown will be on Saturday October 16th. Seems like just last week we were announcing that the Market had gone live on Spring Street once more. My my, how time flies!
Just a reminder that there will be a flu shot-NOT the Covid boosters-here at the Harper Center on Tuesday October 19th, 2021. The clinic will be dispensing vaccines from 9:00 to 11:00 and there is a registration requirement.
Go to https://home.color.com/vaccine/reberkshiregister/ and scroll down until you find the Harper Center site, then just fill in the blanks. By the way, this clinic will Not be administering the so-called “senior shot”. They have the quadrivalent that covers 4 strains.
Here’s a reminder that on Thursday the 14th at 11:30, HT Chen and Dancers will be outside on the grounds at the Harper Center offering a short dance presentation, an excerpt from Hidden Voices, a work addressing Chinese American history. The piece was commissioned originally in 1994 by the Berkshire Community Cultural Commission and was based upon an 1870 North Adams shoe factory strike. Led by choreographer H.T. Chen, this multicultural company has received critical acclaim throughout the US.It’s open air dance folks, all performers and supporting staff are fully vaccinated and will be masked. The program is free and all are welcome.
Finally, many thanks to Elliott Greenblott, Cindy Shogry-Hayer, Greylock Federal Credit Union and Bryan House from the DA’s office for a great presentation this afternoon. DA Harrington was unable to make it in person but she did pop in via zoom. Shout out to Greylock for the Pizza! Elliott is working on a new presentation around electronic “things” attached to you via the internet-your TV, maybe your refrigerator, your home security system as examples-and how they may be compromised. Following the conversation, our Veterans Agent Stephen Roy asked me to warn everyone that the scammers have been sending notes under his name and attempting to ask for money/donations or whatever. Stephen may indeed send you materials in the mail, but he will never ask you for money, Never! So if you get a note from him asking for cash, it’s a scam. You can actually reach him at 413-662-3040 and he’ll be happy to answer any questions you want to ask him.
Monday is Indigenous Peoples Day so the Harper Center will be closed in observance on Monday but we’ll reopen at 8:30 on Tuesday. If you’re interested in Grab and Go for next Wednesday and Friday, please let us know by Tuesday if you haven’t done so already.
Have a great weekend! Enjoy the weather!
