Council on Aging Update

News and Notes, Friday November 12, 2021

The cellphone help session with Williams College students has been moved to Thursday November18th at 8:30. This past Monday we had students visiting from the College and helping folks learn how to use their cellphones-iphones and Android devices. Seems like everyone had a good time in the process. Stop by and join us!  We’ll have coffee!

On Monday November 15th we’ll be having a delivery of delicious Pumpkin Soup and fresh bread from the College at 11:30. For those of you who remember, we once had deliveries for food from Williams,on a regular basis-wrap sandwiches and chocolate chip cookies come immediately to mind. I guess we all know what I ate eh?

Anyway, it was a very popular addition to our activities here and one we would love to reignite! If you’re interested in Pumpkin Soup next Monday, let us know. 413-458-8250

Oh. The soup is in addition to the Grab and Go, not in place of it.

Members of the Williamstown DIRE (Diversity Inclusion and Racial Equity) Committee will be here at Harper on Friday November 19th, 9:00 for our weekly Coffee and Conversation. They’ve been going around town, hosting meet and greet sessions and asked if they could come here. We’re happy to welcome them. Don’t know what DIRE is about?  Only know what you’ve heard from others who have formed an opinion based on media accounts? Come and meet them and hear what they have to say in person. We haven’t figured out what the food offering to go with the coffee will be but it’s guaranteed to be something appropriate for coffee…Also on Friday afternoon, November 19th at 1:00, storyteller Davis Bates will be here to entertain, he tells tall tales, sings and will teach you how to play the spoons. His program is preceded by an open faced Turkey sandwich luncheon-Davis presentation is free, open to all and supported in full by a grant from the Cultural Council of Northern Berkshire. The food? For that we need an RSVP, 413-458-8250.

Finally, we’re hosting a Covid vaccine booster clinic on November 23rd from noon to approximately 2:00. Pfizer, Moderna vaccine boosters, first or second shots for those who need them and the standard flu vaccine-with the so-called “senior shot” available as well. Let us know if you’re coming.
