Council on Aging Update

Update Monday April 26th, 2021

Here’s an official message, quoted almost verbatim for those curious about Johnson and Johnson…

“Following the CDC’s decision to resume use of the Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) COVID-19 vaccine, all providers may resume administration of the J&J vaccine, effective immediately.

The pause was recommended after reports of six cases of a rare and severe type of blood clot in individuals following administration of the Janssen COVID-19 Vaccine.  Following a thorough safety review, including two meetings of the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have determined that the recommended pause regarding the use of the Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) COVID-19 Vaccine in the U.S. should be lifted and use of the vaccine should resume”.

More in the CDC news release: https://www.cdc.gov/media/releases/2021/fda-cdc-lift-vaccine-use.html.

So there you have it.

And so will we. Eventually but not today.

In other really quite pertinent news, there are 300 new dose Moderna vaccinations available for tomorrow, Tuesday April 27th  and 800 more have been made available for Thursday April 29th.The Tuesday clinic will be in operation from 2:00 to 5:00 and Thursday is a doozy rolling along from Noon-8:00. That clinic is also likely Moderna.

These new appointments will be made available at 6:00 tonight. You stand your best chance by getting into the waiting room  early so plan to be on line at 5:30 TONIGHT when the appointments open.

Log in at www.getvaccinatedberkshires.org at 5:30 and get in the waiting room. There are 1100 jabs available and I hope everyone gets in!

If you have received a first shot and haven’t seen your email to confirm a second appointment, check your spam box, it could be there. It happens!

If you’re having problems with a second shot, call us here at Harper and we’ll try to help out. You can reach us at 413.458.8250

Good luck.
