Town Manager

The Williamstown Charter establishes a strong Town Manager form of government. It grants the Town Manager authority over the appointment and removal of town officers, as well as responsibility for the town’s general financial affairs. At the same time, the Charter clearly anticipates a close working relationship between the Town Manager and the Select Board. The Town Manager is expected to provide the information necessary for the Select Board to effectively evaluate the Town Manager’s performance in the role.
