The Department of Public Health (DPH) advises people not to eat fish from the Hoosic River due to Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) hazards.

PCBs and PFAS are human-made chemicals that have caused serious environmental and health problems.
