Update Your Registrations
- Register to Vote and exercise your right.
- Update your Driver’s License and Vehicle Registration
- Introduce Us to Your Dog – you’ll need to register your dog with the town annually.
Trash and Recycling
You can drop off trash, recycling, and compost to Williamstown Transfer Station after purchasing a Permit Sticker. Trash disposal also requires Trash Bag Tags. Please learn more at our Trash and Recycling page.
Heat and Cool Your Home
- Electricity is primarily supplied by National Grid. Residents often participate in the Williamstown Community Choice Power Supply Program, which uses suppliers like First Point Power. You can “opt-up” to 100% green power!
- Gas and Oil – there are several gas and oil suppliers in the region.
- Home Energy Assessments are available through HomeWorks Energy, which partners with Williamstown to offer assessments at no cost to the homeowner. Find out how to start saving energy and money, which rebates and incentives you qualify for and how to access them so that your energy-efficiency upgrades are as affordable as possible.
- COOL Committee is a climate action committee that promotes sustainable living practices and inspires community engagement, prompts individual action, and promotes exchange of ideas and practices to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Williamstown is naturally gorgeous! With mountains, woods, and open fields, it’s easy to enjoy the outdoors in every season. Parks, playgrounds, sports fields, and trails invite walking, biking, hiking, and skiing, while programs and facilities for all ages make it easy to stay active, connect with neighbors, and enjoy life in Williamstown year-round. Here’s a few resources to get you started:
Be Safe
- The Williamstown Police Department serves the community by enhancing the safety and quality of life for all through education, problem solving, and enforcement. They provide a local dispatch. All 911 calls are answered at the Williamstown station.
- The Williamstown Fire District is governed by the Prudential Committee, a five-member board. In 2026, they constructed a new, environmentally sustainable fire station to better serve Williamstown.
- Northern Berkshire EMS provides regional rescue and ambulance service.
- Hospitals include North Adams Regional Hospital and Southwestern Vermont Medical Center.
- Urgent Care is available in Williamstown at Berkshire Health Systems Urgent Care North.
