At the eastern end of the Mohican Path, the trail becomes gravel and opens into a wide meadow with flat gravel paths. The meadows are a great place to see songbirds and insects in the spring and summer. There’s also a pollinator garden to explore in the southeast corner of the park and picnic areas with scenic views. This is a perfect spot to eat lunch, relax, and watch the clouds go by. In the fall, the nearby mountains glow with bright yellow and orange leaves.

The Route 2 entrance to Spruces Park is marked by two white lion statues. The Spruces was purchased by the Town of Williamstown, with FEMA funding, in 2016 following flood damage to the Spruces Mobile Home Park in 2011.

Off-Leash Dog Park

Spruces Park includes 18 acres of meadowland for dogs to roam off leash. If you are driving to the off-leash dog area, turn left after entering between the white lions. Park in the westernmost lot adjacent to the off-leash area. In all other areas of Spruces Park and the Mohican Path, dogs must be leashed.

The Off-Leash Dog Area is not a Fenced Dog Park. The off-leash dog area is delineated by a vegetative buffer and signage. Fencing is prohibited at this location per 44CFR Part 80, Federal Regulations on acquisition of land with FEMA Funding.
