A Friendly Reminder: Lock Your Car Doors

We’ve had a few thefts from unlocked cars around town recently, including one car that was stolen with the keys left inside — a suspect is in custody. Most of these incidents are not dramatic break-ins. They are people simply trying door handles as they walk by. Locked doors are usually enough to keep them moving.

A couple of easy habits that make a big difference:

  • Lock up — even for quick errands or overnight in your driveway
  • Take your keys with you — don’t leave then in the cup holder or console
  • Bring valuables inside or keep them out of sight

It only takes a few seconds and can save you a real headache. If you notice anything suspicious, give the Williamstown Police Department a call at (413) 458-5733.
