Max Rothschild Memorial Skatepark

Opened in 2026, Williamstown’s municipal skatepark is a place for riders of all ages to challenge themselves, build confidence, and enjoy the thrill of riding.

All wheels. All levels. Built to Last.

Skateboards, scooters, bikes, and roller skates are all welcome. The park is designed for first-timers, casual riders, and experienced skaters alike.

Designed and built by Grindline Skateparks, Inc., the park’s poured-concrete construction is made to serve the community for decades.

Rules of the Park

  • Everyone is Welcome: All ages, abilities and wheels belong here. Help out newcomers — even the pros were beginners once.
  • Ride at Your Own Risk: Concrete is hard. Know your limits and wear a helmet and pads.
  • Keep It Clean: Gravel, dirt and sticks can stop small wheels cold. See debris? Sweep it up.
  • Human Power Only: No motors of any kind, including e-bikes, e-scooters and e-boards.
  • Take Turns: Wait your turn at the edge of the park and watch for other riders. Don’t sit, stand or leave gear where people are riding.
  • Look After the Park: Pack out your trash and leave the park better than you found it.
  • Respect the Neighbors: No glass, alcohol or smoking. Keep noise and language down.

Location & Hours

The skatepark is on Stetson Road along the Mohican Recreational Path, at the eastern edge of Cole Field, next to the town’s Fitness Court. Use this Google Maps link to help you locate the skatepark.

Max Rothschild

Max Rothschild, a beloved member of the Williamstown community, tragically lost his life in a bicycle accident on August 7, 2026 when he was seven years old. Max was confident, adventurous, and brave. He loved skiing through moguls and trees, running around the track, swimming in any lake or pool, climbing ropes courses, and hiking rocky trails. He had just learned to ride his bike and was so proud of himself. He approached life with fearless eagerness.

The Williamstown skatepark is dedicated to Max’s memory in the hope that it will be a place where kids can challenge themselves, try things they’ve never done before, pick themselves up when they fall, and experience the pure joy of adventure. May Max’s spirit live on in every child who comes to the skatepark to play, explore, and push their limits.

How the Park Came to Be

The Max Rothschild Memorial Skatepark replaced an outdated prefabricated skatepark built in 2004. The new park sits on town-owned land at the site of the former park.

The project began with community advocacy. Purple Valley Trails championed the effort from start to finish, building support for a new park, leading fundraising, and overseeing its design and construction.

Funding came from a mix of public and private sources. Voters at Town Meeting approved Community Preservation Act (CPA) funds of $32,000 for design in fiscal year 2026 and $350,000 for construction in fiscal year 2027. The Williamstown Department of Public Works contributed in-kind labor to clear the old structures from the site. Private donations and corporate sponsorships made up the rest, bringing the project total to more than $750,000.

The Town of Williamstown is deeply grateful to Purple Valley Trails and every donor and sponsor who helped make this park possible.
