
Margaret Lindley Park is a beloved natural retreat in Williamstown, operated by the Conservation Commission and the Town of Williamstown. The park features a swimming pond, picnic area, grills, and hiking trails through beautiful Berkshire woodland.
Swim
Cool off at the park’s pond formed by an artificial beach and fed by Hemlock Brook. Swimming is open Memorial Day through Labor Day, dawn to dusk. A Park Ranger is on staff Tuesday through Saturday throughout the summer season.
Water quality is tested weekly. Closures will be posted here and on the Town’s official social media channels:

Margaret Lindley Park CLOSED Due to High Bacterial Count
As of Wednesday, June 24, Margaret Lindley Park swimming area is closed due to high bacterial count. The swimming area will remain closed until further notice.
Margaret Lindley Park Tree Removal
A few of the great hemlock trees were sick with Hemlock Woolly Adelgid. The trees have been removed. Please stay out of the roped-off area to let the grass grow.
Dogs
During swim season (Memorial Day through Labor Day), dogs are not permitted anywhere in the park, including woodland trails, in order to maintain water quality for safe swimming.
Dogs are only welcome at Margaret Lindley Park from Labor Day through Memorial Day.
Picnic
Spread out on the park’s expansive lawn, equipped with picnic tables and grills. Pack a lunch, fire up a grill, and enjoy a classic summer afternoon in the Berkshires.
Hike
The park is open year-round for hiking. Trails wind alongside Hemlock Brook through quiet woodland, leading to Harmon Pond, a scenic wetland with sweeping views. A perfect outing in any season.
