Williamstown Receives $86,144 State Grant to Support Year-Round Housing

Williamstown has received an $86,144 grant from the Commonwealth’s Seasonal Communities Grant Program. It’s the Town’s first award since Town Meeting voted to join the Seasonal Communities program in May 2026.

The funding will support Habitat for Humanity’s construction of four affordable homes on Summer Street. It will also help the Town’s Affordable Housing Trust carry out strategies from Williamstown’s Housing Production Plan.

Governor Maura Healey announced the awards on October 20. Nearly $2 million went to all 24 Seasonal Communities statewide, supporting projects that could create 594 year-round homes. The grants fund affordable housing developments, infrastructure improvements and planning work that will make more housing possible in the future.

The Seasonal Communities program was created through the Affordable Homes Act of 2024, the largest housing bond bill in Massachusetts history. Communities in the program have new tools to create and preserve year-round housing, including zoning reforms and options that help local workers and residents find homes.
