Invitation to Bid for Contractors

General Contractors are invited to bid on the renovation project at the David & Joyce Milne Public Library located at 1095 Main Street in Williamstown, MA. The library is a public building, therefore bidding and construction shall follow the requirements outlined in M.G.L. c. 30, 39M of the Designing and Constructing Public Facilities by the Common Wealth of Massachusetts.
The project includes the removal of 6 existing triangular wood windows, 4 will be replaced with new aluminum-framed triangular windows. The remaining 2 window openings with be infilled with wood framing, exterior sheathing, vertical wood siding, insulation and gypsum wallboard interior finish. Six existing casement windows will be adjusted, weatherstripping replaced and a new exterior sill installed. The project also includes addressing 3 existing entrance doorways. One will be a full replacement using an aluminum-framed door and side lites. Another will be adjustment and. but is not limited to, replacing load bearing columns and replacing wall and floor finishes. The estimated cost for renovation is more than $50K and less than $100K.

The contract shall be awarded by no later than Wednesday, June 24, 2026.

Contractor work shall begin immediately after contract award and permitting, lead/asbestos testing and submittals shall be completed prior to construction start date. Construction shall commence on Monday, September 7, 2026 and be fully completed no later than Friday, November 6, 2026.

Site Visit

Bidders are invited to visit the site at an optional pre-bid conference at 9:00 AM on Friday, May 22, 2026. Additional site visits for bidding will not be offered after this time.
