MassDOT Roadwork on Routes 2 and 7

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) has a contractor installing centerline rumble strips (CLRS) along Route 2 (Taconic Trail) and Route 7 (Simonds Road) in Williamstown. The work is taking place this week, May 4-8, 2026.

CLRS are a proven crash countermeasure designed to prevent lane departure type crashes. They have been in use in Massachusetts since 2020.

Once the CLRS are installed, another contractor will be following up with new yellow centerlines. That work will be as soon as possible depending on weather conditions.

Expect one-lane driving and traffic delays. Thank you for your cooperation.
