You may notice new traffic counting equipment — strips and cameras — around Main Street over the coming weeks.
These devices were installed by VHB, the engineering firm the Town hired to lead the MassDOT design process for the Main Street Complete Streets renovation project.
What they do: The equipment simply counts traffic volume—cars, pedestrians, and cyclists. The cameras do not, and in most cases cannot, record identifying information about any individual, vehicle, or license plate.
Why it matters: This data collection is a required step in the MassDOT design process. The counts will directly inform how the redesigned street is planned, helping ensure the final project reflects how Main Street is actually used.
The second round of vote by mail application postcards will be delivered to mailboxes soon. If you would like to vote by mail, please apply as early as possible.
The Town of Williamstown is requesting to receive sealed bids for the provision of up to 2500 tons of winter road sand during the period of November 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027. The Town will receive bids until 1:00 PM on Monday September 28, 2026.
