Nominate a Local Veteran for the Hometown Heroes Banner Program

Veterans Services is launching the Hometown Heroes Banner Program to honor Williamstown’s veterans. Banners featuring each nominee’s name, branch of service, and photo will be displayed around town from Memorial Day through Veterans’ Day. Nominations are now open.

Mission

Veterans Services is always looking for ways to recognize our local veterans. The Hometown Heroes Banner Program allows these heroes to be recognized by the whole community. The servicemen and women who have served or given their lives for our country in the United States Armed Forces deserve to be honored in every way possible.

Application Requirements

To be considered for a banner, the nominee must meet the following requirements:

  • Resided in Williamstown at some point, or currently resides in Williamstown
  • Received an honorable discharge, is currently serving, or died in the line of duty

Banner Design, Time Period, and Location

Banners are 30″ x 36″, double-sided, vinyl material, and include the veteran’s name, branch of service, conflict or era of service, and a photograph. Banners are displayed from Memorial Day through Veterans Day. Banner locations are selected randomly, and specific display locations cannot be requested.

Banner Photograph

Please submit a photo of the veteran in uniform along with the completed application to Veterans Services, 10 Main Street, North Adams, MA 01247. Please note that we will contact you to show you what the photo will look like, and we can’t guarantee photo quality. It is the responsibility of the requester to retrieve the photo from the Veterans’ Services office after submission.

Banner Pricing and Donations

A $125.00 donation is requested for each banner application submitted. The donation covers production, installation, and removal of the banner. Any leftover funds are placed into a Hardship Fund for future use in the program. If the full donation amount is a hardship, please check the box on the application to “request consideration for sponsorship.” A limited number of sponsorships are available, so sponsorship can’t be guaranteed. Applications not processed this year will be placed on a waiting list for next year’s Banner Program.

Individuals or businesses interested in supporting the Hometown Hero Banner Program can consider sponsorship to help defray expenses. A sponsorship is a general donation toward the Hometown Hero Banner Program.
