The Town of Williamstown, Massachusetts is requesting to receive sealed bids for the provision of up to 2500 tons of winter road sand during the period of November 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027, additional tons could be ordered. The unit price of this bid shall be held for any additional quantities. The Town will receive bids until 1:00pm on Monday September 28, 2026.
All bids must be mailed or dropped off to the Town of Williamstown, Department of Public Works at 675 Simonds Rd, Williamstown MA 01267. The sealed envelope should be clearly marked—Winter Sand Department of Public Works, Town of Williamstown MA.
Specifications for Winter Road Sand
Sand for snow and ice control shall consist of clean, hard, sharp, sand meeting the following specifications:
- Passing ½” sieve 100%
- Passing #4 sieve 60-90%
- Passing #30 sieve 40-60%
- Passing #40 sieve 15-30%
- Passing #200 sieve 0-3%
The successful Contractor shall be required to furnish a representative sample and may be required to furnish a sieve analysis certifying that the material meets the above referenced specifications. Subsequent analysis may be required if the material delivered varies from the representative material.
Material shall be bid on a unit basis per ton; including delivery to the Town’s storage site at 675 Simonds Road, Williamstown, MA.
By submitting a bid, the selected Contractor acknowledges that materials will be available and delivered no later than 36 hours after order is placed.
Bid Deadline
Only bids received by 1:00 PM on Monday, September 28, 2026, will be considered, at which time we will have a public bid opening at the Town of Williamstown Department of Public Works, 675 Simonds Rd, Williamstown, MA 01267.
The town of Williamstown reserves the right to reject any and all bids or any part thereof, to waive any formalities in the bidding and to accept the bid considered to be in the best interest of the Town. Failure to submit all information may disqualify the bid.
The selected contractor shall be required to carry out a standard contract for services with the Town of Williamstown.
