Ready to shake up your routine and enjoy the fresh air? How about a fun, energizing walking workout around town where we turn everyday surroundings into your personal gym! Oh, no gym needed! Just comfortable clothing and shoes. Christy Abel will be leading a walking exercise class on Tuesday mornings at 8:00a.m. beginning on June 2nd. Meet in the parking lot at the bottom of Spring Street opposite Tunnel City.
It’s a scenic walk-through town with some really easy to follow exercises using benches, steps and curbs as “equipment”. You’ll be able to do squats, lunges, dips -all sorts of exercises outside in the morning sunshine, which is , of course, a sneaky way to say “weather permitting.
So, join in! It’s gentle on joints, enhances strength and it’s all outdoors! You’ll meet new friends while boosting balance, confidence and strength.
More outdoor fitness opportunities? You got it! Outdoor classes at our new Fitness Court! Both sessions are open to all experience levels – JOIN IN
On May 26th at 12:00 Karen Fortuna will be here. We met her last month when she came down from Dartmouth to introduce us to the new App for early dementia screening. This time she’s coming to introduce us to a new program called AI Companion. This appears to be easier than others to use and you can actually access it using a telephone…remember those? So, essentially you don’t need WI-FI, or an actual App and there’s no training involved. If you can answer a phone call, you can access the program.
The inspiration behind this program is 24-hour, 7-day weekly AI system that can provide conversation, helpful referrals, reminders etc. This new technology uses input from older adults who will or are actually using it.
If you are curious about AI and how it might be helpful for you or someone you know, join us next Tuesday. There’s an opportunity to test drive the program for 30 days and you can use your smartphones and tablets so bring them with you. I assume that there are lots of questions about AI, it’s capabilities and liabilities. Bring them in and ask Karen. She can answer all your questions.
